Tate | Exhibitions

I always enjoy visiting the Tate, unfortunately when I visited this time there was no exhibition on and they were in the process of curating another one.  Instead I took my time and walked around their main collection. Even though I have visited before it is always refreshing going back and seeing art works that reflect upon many different art movements and work that is widely known. Visiting the Tate and similar exhibitions can inspire current practises and help inspire certain things but for me walking around galleries and admiring the craft as a hole motivates me greatly. Being in an exhibition/gallery is very comforting. I am surrounded by my hobby, interest and practise. I always find when I am stuck creatively that this one of the best things to do which is go and sit and absorb all the amazing work around me. It is a great reminder that most of these artists were in the same position as you at some point but look how far they have came. I do not have much more to say in this post as my visit to any gallery is hard to explain as it is more of a personal experience that I can never find the words to explain. One little thing, a few paintings or the gallery as a whole can inspire me. I am grateful to live here in Liverpool where there are a lot of creative spaces around me .

11th of October 2017 Maria Kulikovska is an artist from Ukraine, who uses her body to create amazing three dimensional sculptures. When Kulikovska did her presentation on Wednesday I found it to be very emotional. There was this woman standing infront of a number of students telling us she doesn't belong anywhere in this world. What she considered home was no longer anything but a political statement.  Displaced from her own country and Europe. Her art project "Raft CrimeA" was a representation of her not belonging on any sort of land and it was indeed a very daunting but adventurous experience for Maria.  There were many crazy and absurd stories Maria Kulikovska had to offer and I was intrigued by every single one. Pascale Taurua | Exhibition

I visited Pascale Taura's work at Castle Fine Art and I was absolutely blown away with her work. She approaches figurative painting making her work universal. Inspired by fashion, a feminine universe. She is attracted to showing work how one expresses themselves using such things as clothes. The clothing in her paintings are just as important as the person in her paintings. I see Taurua's work as a way of showing culture and representation, expressing individuality. Pascale Taurua commented herself saying how there is relationship there between owner and the clothing piece and how different clothing items can inflict a certain feeling. I can not help but gather there is something deeper to he work however. I believe she paints beauty and emotions in a way that can not be described. Wednesday Lecture | Jasmir Creed | 6th of February

Jasmir Creed Jasmir Creed is an artist most recently based in Liverpool, Manchester being her hometown. Studying Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art in London. She is very much attracted to and inspired by transient places. From what I gathered about Creed she admires the short amount of time a person is in such a place but really how much that area is apart of their lives. As for instance, standing waiting for a train in a station. A pretty mundane act, repeated undoubtedly by millions. So what does this person really take in? What do they notice? Has it just became a blur a meaningless act of routine and form? There is a strong sense disorientation in her work through the use of perception and depiction, sometimes leaving you feel alienated in this big world that surrounds us. Concrete buildings, tall skylines, roads that stretch for miles and pavements that are forever winding and bending.
