Review and Statement of my Work | Semester 1 | 2018

Like mentioned in my statement I have so many ideas I want to execute this upcoming semester. First off I want to finish my animation project that deals with colour perception/theory and ideally would like to show it to an audience at some point and gather feedback and see if it did make them question what we know or think. The main aim of the animation was to open up some minds. I like toying with people's emotions and perceptions via my work I find every individual response unique and says alot about the person. My audience participating and engaging in my work means alot to me. In shops today we see things such as paint by numbers or art therapy colouring books for adults and so on. I think it would be amazing if I could be the creator of a large one of these and displayed it in an exhibit or gallery space and got the audience to "colour in" my painting.

 I also want to look further into consciousness and space. One idea I really want to execute is a live painting. I will insert a quick sketch below. Basically I would collect furniture and create a physical space and paint everything in my style of painting with a certain colour palette so it looks like a painting come to life.

There are just a couple of ideas of where I would like to take my practise and keep on experimenting with the opportunities I have here at John Moores.

11th of October 2017 Maria Kulikovska is an artist from Ukraine, who uses her body to create amazing three dimensional sculptures. When Kulikovska did her presentation on Wednesday I found it to be very emotional. There was this woman standing infront of a number of students telling us she doesn't belong anywhere in this world. What she considered home was no longer anything but a political statement.  Displaced from her own country and Europe. Her art project "Raft CrimeA" was a representation of her not belonging on any sort of land and it was indeed a very daunting but adventurous experience for Maria.  There were many crazy and absurd stories Maria Kulikovska had to offer and I was intrigued by every single one. Pascale Taurua | Exhibition

I visited Pascale Taura's work at Castle Fine Art and I was absolutely blown away with her work. She approaches figurative painting making her work universal. Inspired by fashion, a feminine universe. She is attracted to showing work how one expresses themselves using such things as clothes. The clothing in her paintings are just as important as the person in her paintings. I see Taurua's work as a way of showing culture and representation, expressing individuality. Pascale Taurua commented herself saying how there is relationship there between owner and the clothing piece and how different clothing items can inflict a certain feeling. I can not help but gather there is something deeper to he work however. I believe she paints beauty and emotions in a way that can not be described. Wednesday Lecture | Jasmir Creed | 6th of February

Jasmir Creed Jasmir Creed is an artist most recently based in Liverpool, Manchester being her hometown. Studying Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art in London. She is very much attracted to and inspired by transient places. From what I gathered about Creed she admires the short amount of time a person is in such a place but really how much that area is apart of their lives. As for instance, standing waiting for a train in a station. A pretty mundane act, repeated undoubtedly by millions. So what does this person really take in? What do they notice? Has it just became a blur a meaningless act of routine and form? There is a strong sense disorientation in her work through the use of perception and depiction, sometimes leaving you feel alienated in this big world that surrounds us.
