My Practise | Photoshop
After my talk with Peter he showed a lot of interest in one of my ideas. I was looking into the Psychology of colours and how we perceive them and interpret them as we do. So we are told colours like red are are meant to betray anger, blue is meant to be calming. So I went online and looked at Dulux paint colours and their names. I brought them in photoshop. In the first slide are the original names given to the colours. In the second image you can see I played around with the names a little, just having some fun! The third edit represents their effects or representations/ associations. After doing the three activities I needed to stop and think of where I was going to take this.
I finally decided instead of embracing and going with the "norm" what if I challenge it? What if I try to give them new meanings. This Practise is still in very early stages and I do have full intentions to develop it further. If you look at the last screengrab, the colours develop quite dark meanings and associations! It makes you think differently of our perceptions. The thing there are no factual reasons why we see colours and how they affect our emotions it is just been cohered with meanings and feelings over the years. I plan to switch things up a bit.
