Art Inspiring Mine
I have been really invested in looking at Abstract Expressionism lately. Their beliefs behind their movement really inspire me. There are two known approaches to this movement, the "action painting" or the "meditative" approach. Artists such as Jackson Pollock, focus on their material; their paints. Where as artists such as Barnett Newman work on simple compostions to create responses from the audience.
Barnett Newman, "Vir Heroicus Sublimis"
This has heavily influenced my practise and process. My current practise involves using my paintings to get a response of the audience. I started off with clear imagery that could be interpreted but was inspired by the Abstract Expressionism movement and realised if I used this style of painting that it would maybe get me further in my process.
My transition is quickly shown in these test pieces below. My style and approach changes drastically.
